Welcome to Embracing the Magpie! I’m L and am so excited you are joining this journey with me. Over the last 10+ years I’ve been dabbling and diving into Tarot, Oracle and other interests. This post is to give a little background on me as of November 2024.

Starting with the brass tacks or disclaimer. Over the course of sharing through this blog I know I’ll grow and change. So, all posts are based on the information I have at the time and those views will evolve. With that out of the way, here we go.

My background is in the financial world. For the last 15 years I have worked in accounting. I’ve kept the books, evaluated the books, judged taxes and looked at processes impacting the finances of the client. As odd as it may sound, it’s interesting. Where people, businesses and governments spend their money tells you a lot about the person or entity. Seeing how money can be wielded as a tool, regarded with fear, or considered a passing fancy has been fascinating. On the side I’ve read Tarot and dabbled in a few other mediums.

I first learned to read Tarot from a Jewish Mystic. He had a very structured approach to tarot. The foundation I received as a result is one I’ve come to appreciate… even though I rebelled against aspects at the time. Then I stumbled upon a YouTube channel, OwlMoon513. From there I explored the Tarot, Divination in general, and other practices to deepen my own practice and Tarot experience.

However, as many journeys go, I stepped away from Tarot for a period of time and away from my practice. While my tarot decks remained with me, they were neglected for a time. Until I hit a low point with my mental health. This helped to restart my left behind practices and if felt like a homecoming.
